Anatomy of Movement Online Training & Mentorship

In-depth training to understand the multifaceted human body.
Practical support for movement professionals who want to use this information to empower.
In most 200-hour yoga teacher trainings, if anatomy is even covered, it's often in a very impractical ways. Students are asked to memorize the names of muscles or bones and they experience anatomy from the perspective of a 2D piece of paper. That just isn't enough! We're in the business of moving people's bodies!

This is an online program that will bridge the gaps between what you've been taught and all the things that you need to know. You'll gain a deeper understanding of anatomy as we explore how the parts of the body synchronize to support range of motion, strength, and coordination and learn how to relate this information to functional anatomy to inform your teaching.

Here's what the course looks like:

  • You'll get four online lectures (one per week) that you can access anytime as soon as the course begins as well as a professional course manual.
  • Once per week, we'll gather for a 30-minute group call (Sundays at 8:00 p.m. EST) to answer questions that came up that week, discuss ways to deepen our learning, and align our expectations. These calls will be recorded in case you can't tune in live or you want to access the information later.
  • Included in the cost of this training is 30-minutes per week of one-on-one mentorship in person or online with Carly Stong as well as once per month for three months upon the completion of this course. In these meetings, we will refine the application of the lectures, integrate what you read to what you see in your classes, or work on anything that you feel you need so that you can continue to grow.

And here’s what you'll walk away with:

  • An understanding of what a well-rounded yoga practice looks like (including what's missing from the traditional Hatha Yoga practice that is still widely taught in most 200-hour teacher trainings);
  • A revaluation of our practice that includes learnings and skills adopted from exercise science and other movement modalities;
  • Scientifically-based principles that we can use to support us in designing an optimal movement program to achieve mobility, strength, and coordination goals;
  • Practical ways to ensure that we are moving our bodies and cuing others to move theirs to support therapeutic growth or change, decreasing risk of injury;
  • A redefinition of how we see the body (breaking away from the traditional alignment-based model that sees the body as a house);
  • A respect for the role of the nervous system as a fundamental component for healthy movement;
  • Support for integrating what you learn to what you offer in your classes;
  • A practical understanding of physical anatomy in order to comprehend how specific muscles, joints, ligaments, fascia, bones, and connective tissues act and react when we move; and
  • An incredibly useful ability to start to see what movement patterns tell us about people (how they move, what their obstacles to movement are, etc.) so that you can empower them to practice and move out of pain, improve mobility, build strength, and participate fully in life with confidence.

This is an amazing opportunity to gain a broad, yet thorough, understanding of functional anatomy, while receiving individual attention by an expert in the field of yoga and movement.

Get started now! Enrolment is OPEN now and only available to a small group of people.
