​NOTE: Generally, the clients who practice with me attend class regularly, so some corners may be cut in terms of cuing. If you're newer to yoga, don't be discouraged if you can't follow along without the visual cues, simply move in a way that feels good in your body and reach out if you'd like any clarification.

Yoga for Bigger Bodied Women at Life Yoga

These classes are part of a movement where women can lovingly and methodically reclaim their bodies. In this class, you will learn how to use props and other modifications and discover space where you can work out without feeling judged. It is about loving your body today and beginning a sustainable, healthy yoga practice. For today's practice, we'll begin with simple functional movements to connect to our healthy range-of-motion, then introduce the pelvic floor in an effort to create an internal source of support and build strength through the core. We'll flow in the second-half of this class, including cross-patterned modified Sun Salutations, to awaken the mind and body and the class concludes with strength-building functional movements to unwind.

MEDITATIVE: 110 minute practice
Restorative, Reiki & Meditation at Life Yoga

In this mindful experience, students were assisted into Restorative Yoga poses and received Reiki therapy from me as they participated in this passive form of relaxation. Restorative Yoga is an integrative approach to healing anxiety, depression, and chronic stress. Rooted in classical yoga, yet supported by psychology and science, the techniques in this class will help you create progressive and lasting change through well-supported, long held, gentle opening poses and guided mindfulness exercises. Though this class is actually 120 minutes long, for the sake of the recording, I cut off 5 minutes off the beginning of the class that was introductions and 5 minutes of discussion off the end. For reference, I used three books for quotes: "Prayers for Healing" by Maggie Oman; "Oneness With All Life: Inspirational Selections from A New Earth" by Eckhart Tolle; and "Downward Dogs and Warriors: Wisdom Tales for Modern Yogis" by Zo Newell.

MEDITATIVE: 10 minute practice
Guided Meditation at the end of our "Yoga for Stress Relief" practice at Life Yoga

For thousands of years people have used meditation to move beyond the mind’s stress-inducing thoughts and emotional upsets  into the peace and clarity of present moment awareness. The variety of meditation techniques, traditions, and technologies is nearly infinite, but the essence of meditation is singular: the cultivation of mindful awareness and expanded consciousness.​

For today's practice, we were all feeling a little low energy after a few rainy days, so we used a variety of practices, including cross-patterned Sun Salutations to form new neuropathways and leave us feeling reconnected and awoken.

INTERMEDIATE: 60 minute practice
​Yoga for Stress Relief at Life Yoga
​May 30, 2017

A blend of artful alignment and attention cues for your body, mind, and heart. Each sequence is meant to point you towards the inner work of listening, respecting, trusting and healing - first yourself on the mat, then off as well, and then extended to others. This class is for people who resonate with a deeper sense of connection in their practice. Along with mindful vinyasa, asana is held longer. This, paired with a longer Savasana and a short meditation will leave you relaxed and rejuvenated.
