Please confirm the following registration requirements are met:
*
You are 16-years of age, or older;
And you've practiced yoga and/or meditation for a minimum of one year (you don't have to be an "advanced" student, but should have a dedication to practice and have a sincere interest in deepening your practice and/or becoming a yoga teacher).
CERTIFICATION CRITERIA:
This course is intended to result in your certification as a 200-hour trained Hatha Yoga Teacher. 200-hour Certified Yoga Teachers from Yoga Teacher Training Kingston must possess the skills and abilities necessary to safely and competently teach yoga in a group setting to the general population, including options for demographics such as plus-sized people, pregnant people, aging populations, etc. Please note, I reserve the right to withhold certification from any student who fails to develop the skills necessary to competently and safely teach. Rest assured, every attempt will be made to provide input throughout the course about teaching deficits that might impede certification.
I will use the following criteria to establish student eligibility for certification:
Practice Teaching: At the end of the course, you will be asked to teach a 60-minute yoga class. The course will culminate in this assignment, so you will be graded on everything we've learnt throughout, including timing of the class, sequencing, safety, student-teacher boundaries, etc. We will be practicing our teaching skills throughout the course, so you ought to be fully capable to complete this task come evaluation time.
Attendance: Those who wish to certify will need to be present for 100% of our in-person time, unless you have received written permission from me. Concessions can be made for medical reasons with a doctor's note. You must make up in-person hours missed and are responsible for the content we covered in that time. In order to certify, you may need to pay for additional one-on-one time with me.
Concept Review: Throughout this course, you will be required to write written tests based on the material in the required readings, from the in-person lecture, or that is contained in your manual. You must achieve a minimum of 75% on these concept reviews in order to progress. These concept reviews will be done together in class and the answers that you get wrong will be reviewed before your opportunity to retake the test (i.e., everyone ought to get at least 75%, so don't lose any sleep about this).
Assignments: All course assignments must be completed and submitted by their posted due date in order to receive your certification.
Fees: All program fees must be paid-in-full prior to receiving certification.
Professional Behavior and Ethical Conduct: All registrants are required to behave in an ethical manner to help create and maintain a safe and professional learning environment. Registrants must abide by our
Code of Conduct
. Alcohol or drugs are prohibited during in-person training and any participants found to be under the influence of these substances will be asked to leave for the remainder of the session. If a second warning is required, they will be asked to leave the remainder of the course.
By completing this application, hitting APPLY below, you are indicating that you have read, understood, and agreed to all the above criteria.
